Pomegranate Blooms

Inspired by Persephone: Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Underworld.

Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, the Goddess of Agriculture. She lived on Earth among the flowers and helped tend to the beautiful gardens until Hades spotted her and wanted her as his wife. Hades kidnapped Persephone and she became bound to The Underworld as Queen after consuming the realms precious pomegranate seeds.

Demeter was filled with grief without her daughter's company and brought famine upon the Earth. A compromise was reached between the gods that allowed Persephone to live on Earth for half of the year and live the other half with her husband down below. Thus, the cycle of the seasons began with Persephone's presence on Earth bringing about spring, and her absence leading to winter.

The colorful flecks of soap represent the blossoms and petals of springtime, while the pomegranate-pink base symbolizes the inevitable return of Persephone to the Realm of the Dead.
